Why ClariVein® Might Be Right for You

Why ClariVein® Might Be Right for You

Top-level vascular surgeon and vein treatment specialist Dr. Michael Gioscia is well-known for his skill in providing the most effective therapies available for varicose and spider veins at the Vein Institute of Westchester in White Plains, New York.

Dr. Gioscia has extensive experience in a wide variety of treatments that eliminate both the cosmetic effects and physical symptoms of varicose and spider veins. He explains why he may recommend ClariVein® as part of a comprehensive treatment strategy.

How does ClariVein work?

ClariVein is an in-office treatment system that combines two highly effective endovenous (within the vein) therapies to eliminate the physical and cosmetic effects of varicose veins.

The system includes a tiny fiber rotating at a high speed, introduced into the vein via a small tube (catheter), that damages the inner lining of the dysfunctional vessel. At the same time, an injection of liquid sclerosing agent delivered through the catheter seals the vein.

This causes the targeted blood vessel to die and prompts the body to reroute blood flow to a nearby healthy vein. Your body then disposes of the cellular debris left behind by the dying vessel, and the visible signs of the varicosity fade.

Is ClariVein painful?

Dr. Gioscia notes that although it’s highly effective at addressing even large varicose veins, ClariVein is essentially painless and offers a much quicker recovery time than other treatment alternatives such as surgical vein stripping.

Improvements in the ClariVein system, including the remarkably small size of the catheter, provide full access to the targeted vein with only one small needle puncture. Placement and advance of the catheter are guided by ultrasound imaging.

Traditional vein stripping, on the other hand, requires hospitalization and a two-hour procedure that requires several incisions to access the targeted vein, through which the vein is then pulled or stripped out of the body.

Other treatments require multiple punctures along the length of the vein, are often less precise than ClariVein, and may be less effective overall for medium to large veins since they utilize only one method of vein destruction.

The many benefits of ClariVein include:

The precision available with ClariVein also prevents temporary injury to surrounding nerves and tissue that is sometimes unavoidable with other treatments.

Am I a good candidate for ClariVein?

Dr. Gioscia offers many effective treatments for varicose and spider veins and enjoys a well-earned reputation for success based on his skill and experience.

He also has an award-winning patient satisfaction rating, which is in part due to his commitment to providing vein treatment that’s customized to fit your needs.

He explains that based on the results of your initial consultation, he always takes time to devise the most effective plan for addressing your physical and cosmetic concerns. Depending on the number, size, color, and location of your problematic veins, that plan may or may not include ClariVein.

Dr. Gioscia affirms that the Vein Institute of Westchester is not a one-fix-for-all practice, noting that it’s typically a combination of therapies that provide the results you desire.

These options may include:

Dr. Gioscia also provides the information you require to make thoughtful decisions about your treatment strategy and encourages his patients to ask questions throughout the planning process.
